Doris Day and Dinah Shore were two of the most beloved singers of the 1940s, '50s and '60s. While Doris Day was a band singer with Les Brown, a movie star, and a performer who had a tremendous voice, Dinah Shore, with her more subtle and very friendly style, found her fame on radio and as a television host. They both became household names in the 1940s and never lost their popularity through the years.

This Christmas CD has three songs apiece from the two singers plus five other performances. Doris Day uplifts "Here Comes Santa Claus," a song simply called "Christmas," and the obscure "Second Star To The Right." Dinah Shore contributes her own special interpretations of "O Little Town Of Bethlehem," "White Christmas" and "First Noel."

While Doris Day and Dinah Shore get first billing, there are also recordings from Anita Ellis, Kay Thompson ("Jingle Bells"), Peggy Lee ("The Christmas Song"), Connie Haines and a three-song medley from Dinah Shore, Ginny Simms, Frances Langford and the Ken Darby Singers.

Recorded during an era before Christmas albums were in vogue, these mostly rare performances would be a fine addition to anyone's collection of vintage Christmas music.
