To lovers of all kinds of vocal music, the name Robert DeCormier is at once familiar and legendary. For more than four decades DeCormier was one of the most innovative, imaginative, skillful and multi-talented conductors of choruses in the United States. But DeCormier's talent was not restricted to traditional classical music. Rather, DeCormier not only led his phenomenal ensemble, known as the DeCormier Singers, but was also a seminal figure in the singing careers of Harry Belafonte and the wonderful folk/pop trio Peter, Paul and Mary. In addition to his conducting career, DeCormier was a first-rate arranger and many of his scores set the standard.
Children Go Where I Send Thee takes us on a wonderful musical journey to many different nations for a sampling of the holiday music from each country. DeCormier and his wonderful singers visit Sweden, Italy, Austria, Nigeria, Spain and other nations for what must be considered to be one of the most interesting and delightful holiday discs we've ever come upon.
The performances are exquisite and the sound will make you feel as if the world's greatest carolers had just walked into your home. The beauty of the DeCormier arrangements and performances will be music you and your loved ones will return to year after year.
