The blues is down home from the heart, that deep feeling that drives you to the edge of your emotional string and suddenly an amazing guitar chord over a dynamic voice energizes your soul. And instantly, you return to the swinging shores of life and the blues is something that makes you swing under the influence of guitarist Jimmy Vivino. His melodic voice and hard rhythms can burn down the house or make you cry but one thing is evident, finger snapping is an automatic response on Vivino's Do What, Now?
His band The Rekooperators represent an abled cast of blues musicians with Harvey Brooks playing cool bass patterns behind Al Kooper's Hammond B-3 and Wurlitzer electric piano along with Vivino's arsenal of electric, acoustic and steel guitars. Controlling the pace is Anton Fig, manning the drums with complete autonomy. Sam Bush on mandolin (not known as a blues instrument) takes bold opportunities on the volatile "Stranger Blues" as Vivino riffs on his guitars moving with improvisational dexterity. As the lead guitarist, Vivino consistently dices it up with zesty solos, blistering improvisations and textured vocals that makes for an all around stellar performance.
